The sheer amount of new music appearing on SoundCloud and Bandcamp every day is exhausting to even think about. You get filled with an existential dread trying to navigate Netflix for something even half decent to waste your evening with right? Try wading through the ‘ambient’ tag on Bandcamp."Wise to this, Aidan decided to start a weekly mailing list compiling the best of SoundCloud and Bandcamp. Mostly music with an ambient bent or something that betrayed his youthful love of progressive house. As a discerning fan of the pun, I have to say Aidan killed it with the name. He also put quite a lot of faith in SoundCloud not folding….."And its grown and grown, picking up a fancy website, a Dublin Digital Radio show and a killer, irregular mix series along the way. Also some delightful, insightful End of Year lists obviously made all the better for my presence on them. We’ve all discovered new music thanks to Aidan; at the time of writing I’m still picking up bits of my brain after clicking on a BFTT edit of Britney Spears that featured in his mailout."Platforms like BandCloud are very important. The music press is folding in on itself to cover the same artists & labels and do so with increasingly smaller humour and personality. Start zines, pick up that tumblr you haven’t logged into for 18 months and write about that odd little EP you saw big Phil Sherburne had bought on Bandcamp. He buys so much stuff! Write about the music you like and keep doing it."Oooer got a bit righteous there...."So, Bandcloud presents Missives marks a self-explanatory but important landmark in fine fashion, collating fresh material from a weighty selection of international artists. Everyone here has featured on Bandcloud in one form or another over the past five years.
