(Greg Hancock, Fatea Magazine) http://www.fatea-records.co.uk/magazine/reviews/DuncanBatey/ Half of the album was written while holidaying in a solitary caravan at the far corner of an apple orchard in the middle of nowhere in Herefordshire in August 2016, sometimes sat by a blazing fire gazing up at the stars, or over at the silhouette of the Black Mountains beyond the River Wye. The rest of the songs on the album were written at various points before and after, back in Glastonbury.Recording mostly took place in fits and starts from the Spring of 2017 to Autumn 2019, in Daniel Shaw's exclusive Grapevine Cottage Studios in Somerset.For the curious, the album's title is that of its second track, Little Black Classics, and that title and the song's lyrics, as well as the design of the lyric booklet and disc art, are all clues as to its unlikely origins, in that solitary caravan, in deepest darkest Herefordshire.
