Sweet SweetAbby Gogo was an Atlanta psych rock/shoegaze band that was active between 2005 and 2015 formed by twin brothers Bon and Jon Allinson. The band had many members throughout the years including Chandler Rentz (Snowden) during 2009-2010 and longtime drummer Puma Navarro. The band released its first 7-inch split with fellow Atlanta rockers Carnivores via Atlanta-based label Double Phantom Records in 2008, which was followed by a self-titled full length in 2010. Abby gogo sonically explored the shoegaze sound drawing influence from bands such as The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Telescopes, and Spacemen 3. Throughout the years, Abby gogo recorded and played shows in Atlanta, touring occasionally on the east coast and throughout the midwest. They paid a visit to SXSW in 2011 where they teamed up with Atlanta label Pretty Ambitious to release the You Destroy Me 7-inch, featuring a cover of The Telescopes song “7# Disaster.” From those recording sessions, the band’s second full-length, A Perfect Whatever, was born. While the band split in 2014, its second album was released via Psych Army in 2018.The Allinson brothers have reunited along with Navarro as Abby gogo over the years for one-off shows and have been active in other projects, including Bon and Navarro’s project A Drug Called Tradition and the brothers’ joint project MORE (later to be called Van Vleck).Jon and Bon both still live in Atlanta and continue to create art and music in the community.
