Entre Lugares (In Between Places)This collection of music pieces and soundscape compositions are taken from a short film I made in 2019, titled "Playback Head". Assembled from footage collected over a period of fifty years, on video and Super 8 film, they relate to events of my life growing up in Brazil, immigrating to Canada as an adult, and starting a family in a foreign place. Recollections of childhood, traveling, and different homes - images and sounds that allude to the associative nature of memory, and its ambiguous essence. Music and sound have a prominent role in the film. Here, dissociated from the image, they are presented in an album featuring extended or modified versions of the original pieces.Instruments: electric and acoustic guitars, cavaquinho, piano, music boxes, children toys, digital portable recorder, cassette and micro-cassette recorders, reel-to-reel tape machine, Super 8 projector.Recorded in several locations in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, and Vancouver, Canada.Mixed at the Sonic Research Studio, SFU (Vancouver)
