Founded in 2001, Art Enables is Washington, DC’s only non-profit dedicated to providing supported employment and vocational opportunities for adult visual artists with disabilities. For the past fifteen years, Art Enables has been creating opportunities for artists with disabilities to make, market, and earn income from their original and honest artwork. In addition to earning income from art sales, artists build the skills, relationships, and experience necessary for a successful career in the arts. Through Art Enables’ studio and galleries, artists are provided with the creative space, materials, and marketing support they need to develop and succeed as professionals. Since Art Enables’ founding, artists in the program have produced thousands of pieces of artwork, have exhibited work locally, nationally, and internationally, and have generated nearly $1M in art sales.
