The German Charity Fund supports German citizens and their dependents if they have got in trouble in Japan. Examples from BDF's initiatives: - Supporting the elderly in case they neither have contacts to Germany nor have any support in Japan. - Subsidizing cost for retirement homes, medical treatments and education of children in case of financial distress. - subsidies for surviving dependents receiving only minimal widows annuity. - Supporting the transfer to Germany if remaining in Japan is not an option anymore. - Supporting German prisoners in Japanese penitentiary, e.g. by warming clothes, reading matters and glasses
