Observing them and their responses to what is beautiful and what is nasty in the world has been a source of new vision for me as a father and a songwriter. Musically, it is an American roots album, drawing from country, old-time, gospel and blues traditions. Each of these genres has in some way shaped how I play and write and they each find a voice on the album.
