One rainy day, I found myself listening to Drake's Emotionless record; as he had arguably lost (or won) an epic rap battle to Pusha-T. Whether Drake won or lost the battle is debatable, primarily depending on how one might view the idea of taking the high-road.Rap battles are all about the displaying of lyrical prowess and wit. Some would argue that Pusha-T exceeded those boundaries and got personal with his onslaught. Drake in turn, chose to refrain from a direct response, and opted to bite his tongue and reply with a clever silence.Correspondingly, of the five senses, we utilize four of them in pairs. We possess two eyes to see, two ears to hear, two nostrils to smell, two hands to feel, but only one mouth to speak. We even have two of every tooth to chew our food with, yet only one mouth and one tongue. I would think that to be by design. The tongue might bear a resemblance to a tiny little rudderthat controls an enormous ship or the little kindling flame that could burndown a forest; because the tongue has the ability to defame mankind. We tameand control the world’s most vicious creatures such as lions, bears, sharks, birds, snakes, crocodiles, tigers, dogs, and other dangerous animals; but veryfew men can tame their own tongue. I would attribute the tongue’s remarkablecapacity for rapid healing to the fact that it is used so frequently to scarand abuse others. Even though I may regret some of the things I have said, I have never regretted my silence. In fact, a well-timed silence can be more expressive than any spoken words. So, maybe Drake was on to something, with his silent clamor.Be easy, do right, and stay glorious!
