David Mosey"English Kills is pastoral sounding album, with danger hiding in the lyrics. Mosey isn't into Hollywood endings. The arrangements are definitely pop, with snippets of jazz (especially the drum sound) and dance. Mosey managed to sound big while keeping it small."- Here Comes the FloodEnglish Kills, released 19 January 20121. Nowhere Day2. The Motorist3. Are You Trying to Seem Like You Need No One?4. Strange CompanyPortland transplant and pop songwriter David Mosey moved to Brooklyn, New York in 2004 to surround himself with like-minded writers and musicians. Shortly after his arrival, he met Joe McGinty (Psychedelic Furs) who would take on production duties on David's projects including this, 2011's English Kills. The album was recorded between Portland, Oregon and New York, and included dozens of musicians including Stuart Bogie (TV on the Radio). The many layers of this lush, driving, cinematic album unfold around Mosey's witty story-telling and rock n' roll baritone. A dynamic album, English Kills shimmers as pop and electro meet string-quartet, and "new wave tango".
