Fire EscapesThis is the first solo recording of mine that I actually released. It was recorded in 2008 to prepare for my part of an upcoming tour of Europe performing as 'From the Shade' (along with tone-wizard Matt Resovich/Roll Film and visualist Andy Pates). This EP was the very definition of a bedroom recording, pulling together microphones and other equipment from some friends, and trying to forge a new sound and direction for myself. I wasn't sure what I was doing, but in recording this little EP, it paved the way for the style for all of my solo material since. I wrote parts and performed them for most instruments on these songs, but my good buddy Sean Taugher came over to record some serious rhythm business, which laid the roots for what would eventually evolve into my backing band, Spectral Cities. Some drums were recorded at Sven-Erik Seaholm's studio (kaspro.com), and he helped tremendously in the final mixing/mastering stages and it was fun to throw some stuff at him last minute, as often happens. :)To fully get into it, I think that this is late-night music - put those phones, screens, and other noises aside for a moment or so!
