Eastwinds.Perth, Australia.Eastwinds began in 2014 when Mark Cain (reeds), Esfandiar Shahmir (ney) and Sanshi (didgeridoo) came together as a woodwind trio. We were then joined by Estonian singer, Kristiina Maalaps and today Eastwinds is a six-piece with broad influences: Estonian runo-song, classical Persian, Balkan, klezmer and contemporary jazz. All find expression in the band’s unique acoustic global sound.
