Everything Goes ColdThe Terminus Isolation Tracks by Eric Gottesman with Jamie Cronander, released 26 December 20201. Dance Again2. VirusEvery summer since 2012, I have flown from my home in California to Calgary, Alberta to perform at Terminus— a festival of industrial, post-industrial, and adjacent genres at Dickens Pub. Of all the pieces of life that have been absent from 2020, not joining my friends from all over the world at this annual gathering has been one of the most sharply felt. Smaller music venues everywhere are suffering, and I've donated directly to many of my favorites over the course of the year. Because of Dickens' special place in my life, I wanted to do something a bit different for them. In addition to money I've already donated directly, I'll be sending any income from this release directly to Dickens in the hopes that Chris, Ambor, and their staff will be able to host events like Terminus again in the near future.Jamie Cronander of Solanum Xanti, my bandmate in Everything Goes Cold and a member of Striplicker and The Devil In California contributed his guitar work. Eric Oehler, my bandmate in Caustic, half of Klack, and the driving force of Null Device, contributed the mastering. Portrait artist and Terminus mainstay Jena X Metanoia contributed the artwork.I originally performed the songs on this release with acoustic guitar as part of the Terminus: Isolation streams during the summer of 2020. They were chosen because of their relevance to the festival and familiarity to frequent festival-goers, as well as their thematic connection to what we'd all hoped would be a more short-lived crisis. While Front Line Assembly hasn't performed at Terminus thus far, many of the band's adjacent projects have. They also hail from Western Canada, and "Virus" is a classic of the format. Kite's 2016 performance at Terminus was a moving experience for many of us, and "Dance Again" felt like an appropriate piece for the moment.Older or more studious fans of my work may be familiar with See Colin Slash, my primary musical outlet from 1998-2003, with my good friend and noted fine artist Greg Dunn. In that project, we often performed acoustic interpretations of popular EBM tracks, usually with tongue firmly in cheek. My work with Greg certainly inspired this release, and I would be remiss in failing to mention it.Eric GottesmanDecember, 2020
