When our company, H-TEC EDUCATION GmbH, was founded some 14 years ago, the market for industrial applications of fuel cell technologies was extremely small and specialised, and these applications required large capital investments. At the time, mass-produced fuel cells appeared to be a perfectly viable source of energy on paper, but in practice they were not yet an economically viable technology. The first niche market that we identified for the kinds of fuel cells and electrolysers that could be manufactured in small production batches was in instructional and demonstration devices. This led to the 1997 Hannover Messe trade show, where we unveiled of a complete portfolio of instructional and demonstration model fuel cells and electrolysers with a range of outputs. The products from our H-TEC EDUCATION division have since become our core business, and over the past decade, this division has become the global market leader in this sector. In the relatively young and small market for fuel cell-based training devices, our company has earned a reputation for meeting customer needs swiftly and beating other companies to the punch when it comes to developing innovative products.
