When the Rain Falls Down11. Manhã de CarnavalLEAN TO MEBy late Spring of 2020, I’d cancelled my tours and all my local shows, I was wondering what to do with my life. My friend Kullen Fox said, “Why don’t we record your new songs?” and thus began the project of making “Lean to Me”. We started tracking at his Karhole Recording studio in New Braunfels, TX and the creativity and energy sparked. By Autumn, my friend Patrick Sansone got involved. He added a few new colors to the painting, and mixed each song at his Tiny Door Studio in Nashville,TN. Friends Jason Mercer (in Wolfe Island, Canada) and Bob Hoffnar (here in Austin) put some banjo and pedal steel onto a couple songs, and in Spring of 2021 the record was mixed, mastered and finished. I decided to call the album “Lean to Me” because it was the first song I wrote during this period, and I felt it conveyed the feeling of wanting to be close to loved ones during the strange time of isolation. Working with my friends on this recording project was a beacon of joy for me!
