During the break from live music that Covid gave us I found myself reflecting on things. I thought about all the aspects of music that upset me. The people who talk during your set, the bands that leave before you play, the bands that show up after you play, you know things like that. Scene politics So I started writing this album kind of talking a lot of shit thinking on gear snobs, Ego maniacs and thinking when this is done maybe I’ll be done playing music. Anyways at a certain point I had stop And ask myself what the fuck am I even trying to say. If I make fun of everyone for thinking they’re so great aren’t I really saying I think I’m great? Im the one with the ego? When was the last time I actually intently watched someone’s set? Intently listened to someones music? All the things that once excited me about being apart o of a music scene were gone.The inward reflection beganI had to ask myself why I continue despite all negative bullet points I played out. I thought back to a time where playing any show was a victory. A time where seeing new bands was genuinely exciting. A time when participating in my local music scene savedMy life.This album isn’t just about the people I hate it’s about the people I love, it’s about myself. This album is a reminder that music has saved my life more times than there are words on this page. So I wrote this album as a reminder to keep moving on.The characteristics of others we find we hate can often be found within.
