Float Beneath the Sun by Jon Vayla, released 03 December 20181. Float Beneath the Sun2. LVA-773. Dragged from the River4. Credits ThemeWith his new album ‘Float Beneath the Sun’, Australian musician Jon Vayla has created an immersive and cinematic experience based on themes of mortality and the tension between hope and fear. A purely instrumental album, ‘Float Beneath the Sun’ is a return to Vayla’s classical beginnings and written in the style of a cinema score.Drawing on influences from composers such as Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer and Ennio Morricone, Vayla combines rich orchestral arrangement with guitar drones and synths. On progressive listens, one can also hear the influence of ambient experimental sound artists Lawrence English and William Basinski; in addition to bands such as Ulver; Earth; Sunn O))) and Swans. The classical arrangements are the starting point for developing waves of dissonance and resolution with Vayla often adding to these with combinations of clean tremolo guitar, looped drones and occasional low-end heaviness. The film clip for the title track ‘Float Beneath the Sun’’ was created by Paul W RankinAvailable as pre-order 4th November 2018.
