"The Redamancy EP is as pure an exercise of creative experimentation as any Lushlife record has been. It's a rap album where the emcee only appears impressionistically and is more focused on my production and arrangements. It explodes further the 'pop modernist' ethos that's been a staple of my sound, this time taking familiar contemporary pop motifs and bringing them together with avant garde and free jazz ideas in the forefront, thanks to the contribution across the record from members of Irreversible Entanglements. It's been an opportunity to work in different ways with new artists and familiar collaborators, but certainly in new contexts. My homie, Botany pulls up as he has on almost all of the Lushlife projects, but this time with a four-on-the-floor house cut featuring vocals from HPrizm of Anti-Pop Consortium and Scottish-Indian artist, Kapil Seshasayee. Getting to work with Felicia Douglass of Dirty Projectors once again allowed me to bring her songwriting and dulcet vocals right into the focus of the first single, 'Hessdalen Lights,' and what else can I say about having some of my day-one rap heroes on this in Dalek. Gets my hyped just to think about it. Lately my career has taken a lot of surprising turns - as a children's book author, developing film & TV projects and more. It's been an incredible journey, but still when I look in the mirror, my self-perception is as a musician. It's the thing I have always been, and always wanted to be since I can remember. Despite focusing mainly on other creative endeavors for the last few years, seeing folks reach out asking about new Lushlife stuff is super poignant - especially ten years deep in a notoriously fickle industry. So when it came to making this new EP, I really thought of it as a thank you letter to all the listeners that have enjoyed my music over the years. To that end, the title 'Redamancy' is the only English word for love that specifies reciprocity."
