Pieces of Me**LIFE, LOVE, AND LOCKDOWNS**A message from Mikey: This is the second all-original EP from the Organ Grinders, and my first venture out of the world of dance-first music and into a deeper part of my songwriting. The songs were inspired by and reflect my journey just before and during the pandemic, as I navigated relationships and isolation and discovered long-forgotten parts of myself that I finally had time to make peace with.The band lineup and engineering for this release also mirror my evolution as a creator, which led to some interesting "firsts": First release without a single swing song, first duet, first time recording electric guitar, and the first ever fade-out (I know, shocking!). And yet, at its core this EP is still very much us, and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it!Many thanks to the Organ Grinders for bringing their top game no matter what kind of music we make, to our special guest Jiří Maršíček who brought even more soul to the record, to my father Yoram Ariel for mixing and mastering what feels like our biggest-sounding record to date, to Jiří Lubojacký (Drawing Hat) for the beautiful cover art that predated even the name of the record, and to my sister Shlomit Ariel who created the artwork "Lockdown Boogie Woogie" that inspired the song of the same name.
