The year in which what little freedom was left, got turned into nothing more than an illusion. A twisted joke told by the government to keep people quiet. To retain order. The goal was not safety. The goal was not to make life better, easier and more comfortable as they claimed. What it really was, was maximum surveillance, access to any and all thought and control over everyone’s physical body at any time, anywhere. SOL-N. The Nanite bill. The self-replicating razor blade that would slit any oppositions throat once and for all. Without spilling a single drop of blood. Or so they thought. Every living being on planet earth was constantly monitored, their thoughts recorded and archived, strangers spying on their very lives through their own eyes. There was no implant to remove, no wire to cut. Obey or die. Faceless operators behind green glowing screens decided if intervention was necessary. The operators options were limited to direct control over the individual, a knock-out routine or a self-destruct sequence that killed instantly. Thousands of these so called TO’s or termination orders got executed...every day. But while the self-proclaimed savers of humanity sat in their expensive apartments inside their ivory towers, gazing down on the masses, tides began to turn. Despite their best efforts, rebellion was knocking on their door...with a sledgehammer. A mysterious figure known only as „Terminus“ and a band of rebels managed to infect the Nanites with a virus. The original intention to only cut the machines' connection to the government got skewed however, when the group discovered that even if a human body dies, the Nanites remain active for a while. Liberating as much of the living as they could, they soon started to „revive“ the recently deceased by infecting their Nanites and granting them full control of the bodies they inhabited to strengthen their forces, turning those corpses into mindless, rabid killing machines. The only way of converting them to serve the cause however, was a direct connection yet there was only one person outfitted with the tech to do the job.
