Our Travels to the Great North Woods.Growing up in New England some of my fondest childhood memories include the snow. Building snowmen and snow angels in the backyard, Sledding down King Kong Hill at the end of our dead end road, and learning to ski in the White Mountains of New Hampshire just to name a few. Now that I'm all grown up it's no surprise that I still enjoy playing in the snow. Only these days that old Flexible Flyer has been upgraded to a Ski-Doo Blizzard, and the short walk down the road to my favorite childhood sledding spot has now morphed into a five hour drive north, in search of the deep stuff!A few years back my husband introduced me to Pittsburg. Yes, I know I 'forget the H', and no I'm not talking about Pennsylvania. I'm talking about Pittsburg, NH. With a population of only about 850 people, it's quiet, quaint, and just so happens to rank Top Ten on my list of favorite places to visit. Pittsburg is shaded in green. Over the years we’ve had the opportunity to stay with some amazing people in the ‘North Country’, but we always find ourselves coming back to Lopstick Lodge. Roughing It In StyleI could give you a laundry list of reasons why we love Lopstick, but quite honestly it’s because they have quite literally thought of everything!The cabins are not only affordable, but clean and fully stocked with everything you would need to feel at home. Just ask our dogs!! And let’s not forget the real reason why we come up here. I love that you can pick up the trials right from your cabin, and they never seem to disappoint (thanks to the Pittsburg Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club)!Just in the past month alone we were able to explore parts of New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and Canada. All by sled, right from our cabin door. Maybe it’s peace and quiet you’re searching for. Maybe you’re into outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, or hiking. Or you could be an adrenaline junkie like myself, who thrives from the thrill of riding a snowmobile (or ATV). Whatever it is that tickles your fancy I highly recommend a trip to Pittsburg, NH.
