Original Dixieland Jazz Band® is a New Orleans jazz band founded in 1916 by cornetist Nick LaRocca. They performed a club date in Chicago for many months, then in January 1917 moved to a residency performance at Reisenweber's Cafe/Supper Club in New York City. They recorded for Victor, Columbia, Aeolian Vocalion and OKeh records between 1917 to 1938. The band had five "Americans" from varying ethnic immigrant backgrounds and they were the first Americans to sell over one million recordings of their own original American compositions.
