CaliforniaNightpalms starts off with it’s title track, blending a driving and pumping four-to-the-floor beat with dreamy melodies, edgy synth arpeggios and uplifting guitar lines. This track was written with an intent of encouraging listeners to go on a journey to an entirely different place. The waves, the sand, the music, the drinks- it’s all right there in front of you.Somewhere beneath our dreams and hopes we are often confronted with a level of uncertainty and anxiety, especially in challenging times like these. Believe, the second track of the EP, is an attempt to form a narrative around these feelings. Its almost industrial rhythms and tearing vocals set the tone for a top down view of the reality everyone has to find their way around in. While still danceable, this piece is all about self-reflection.California, the last track of the EP, dials back the drive and turns the focus back to the origins of Nightpalms. Based around a dreamy eighties guitar riff, loose drums and sun-filled synths, this track looks out to a distant, but warm and positive future for all of us.
