BellonaI've always thought Greatest Hits collections are pretty lame, and I seem to have never met a dumb idea that I haven’t wanted to pursue to its own ridiculous end. So here’s a collection of some of the “best” songs from the dozen years that PARAE existed as a live performing entity (2006-2017), hit singles - every single one. These tunes are all from the time when the project became a much more collaborative thing (although I’m told I could still be quite the dictator), and pulls from seven albums - though I only selected one song from the Oresteia project, as that experiment in rock opera bombast has quite a different vibe and I feel weird about it these days. Why there’s even a hastily recorded new song tacked on in the middle (it was written back in 2017 before things faded away)! I tried to pick mostly the “fun” ones and the jams that always slayed live, but there’s still some weirdos in there, so tread cautiously. Anyway, let me recognize those who contributed to this broken vision of art damaged post-punk pop: Erin, Colin, Jerry, Corey, Jimo, Maryann, Matt, Buffie, and most importantly Tihani, whom I somehow managed to coerce and torment into playing the drums on 150+ songs over the years - some of them probably even pretty good!
