AboutKote Sri Prasanna Rama Devara TempleThe name Chennapatna evokes just one memory, and that is the wooden toys that it is famous for. Search Google and you will get many links related to the toys but little else about the town. You have to search for this with more effort.Chennapatna is a small town about 60 kms from Bengaluru city and on the road leading to the other famous city of Karnataka, Mysore which is about 140 kms away. While Chennapatna did not become the pit stop for those driving between these two cities for coffee, meals it became a pit stop for shopping. The nearby silk town of Ramanagara (more famous as the location where the iconic Hindi film Sholay was filmed) meant that travellers shopped for silk sarees, dresses, toys during their journey.Ask any resident of the town and likely you will still get these as their claim to fame. But what is not well known except amongst historians or conservative Hindus, is that this town has very historical and centuries old links to some of the most important and revered God’s and Guru’s linked to the Brahmin community. This community finds in this town some of the most revered connections for them. While the names, locations maybe common knowledge it has failed to get the attention it deserves.Chennapatna has many strong linkages to the Mādhwa sect of the Brahmins apart from other Hindu religious locations. The Mādhwa sect are followers of Shri Ananda Thīrtha or Madhwācharya as he is popularly known. Some of the most ancient and revered names of this community are associated with this town. These are extremely important and revered names associated with the Madhwa sect of Brahmins and the historical linkage goes back at least 1,500 years even though some have claimed it to be asAnand Thirtharu - MadhwacharyaBrahmanya TheertharuVyaasaraja SwamiAprameya Swami, DoddamallurVaradaraja SwamiAbburEvents and PoojasAnnual Chariot FestivalProgramsThe highlight of the Temple programs during the year.
