Lies and Alibis is the fourth collection of 80's new wave tracks that the band has recorded in a ska and reggae style. The songs recorded for the EP reflect the darker side of public and private life where facts are questioned , lies are told with impunity and gaslighting and ghosting are the new normal. "Young Turks" is rock meets reggae version of Rod Stewart's 1981 new wave synth pop song. A "Young Turk" is slang for a rebellious youth who acts contrary to what is deemed normal by society. The song hit #5 in the US and #11 in the UK. "Let Me Go" is a "More Specials" styled take on Heaven 17's 1982 track about how idealism and progress are crushed by the powers that be and one friend betrays another. The song hit #41 in the UK and #4 on the US Dance Chart. "Tainted Love" is reimagined as a dubby and soulful reggae take on Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" from 1981 which itself was a cover of the 1960's northern soul classic recorded by Gloria Jones.The song hit #1 in the UK and #8 in the US. Lies" is a horn heavy 2-Tone version of the Thompson Twins "Lies" from 1983. The song hit #1 on the US Dance Charts and #67 in the UK.
