Simon's GhostChris Smillie has been writing songs forever under a few different names but the one he always come back to is ‘Simon’s Ghost’. The name is derived from a particularly good track by Factory Records band, Crispy Ambulance from the album, The Plateau Phase. The first album, A Sea of Stars, is lo-fi electronica - New Order with Casiotones. The second, Cold, is a far harder new wave guitar sound.Breathe EP, released 01 October 20171. Breathe2. Eilean3. I Know Very Well How I Got My Name (Morrissey cover)4. DownstreamA combination of spiky post-punk with indie sensibilities, complete with understated Morrissey cover. Genuine comments from listeners:They remind me of Joy Division. interesting and complex. The band reminds me of Deathcab for Cutie...I get kind of an 80's goth vibe...which is cool really good, avant garde sound has a 1980s/90s vibe. Sounds like a combination of the Talking Heads and the Doors...post punk, nearly gothic, Joy Division, but could be Nick Cave...maybe some Devo thrown in...a little menace and perhaps paranoia...
