Originally intended as the first "Electric" Six Organs album in 2002, Field Recordings era Comets On Fire was Ben's backing band. These low-fi but highly dynamic recordings were intended for release and were shelved as other Six Ø and COF projects took over scheduling. Think Les Rallizes meets Crazy Horse live at the Buddhist monastery. This idea was revitalized and finally brought to completion when Chasny took Comets On Fire in as backing band to record "Ascent" in 2012 and released it later that same year on Drag City.
