Glass and GlitterThe end. It’s the result of a beginning that got where it needed to go.Sometimes the space in between matters more. Sometimes it does not.Are we in control of our destiny?Do our behaviors shape who we are?Or is it simply the consequence of stimulus that shapes our behaviors?Every beginning has an end. Every cause has an effect. Every action has a consequence.Violet elicits within us feelings of positivity, thus ‘Somewhere Violet’ represents the place in life where you most want to be. As such, we hope our music inspires you (as it has inspired us) to take Action and follow your dreams, to adjust your Behavior along the way, and to pay special attention to those Consequences which reinforce positive outcomes. We invite you to Somewhere Violet. This album is the culmination of a journey we began in 2010.It’s the final installment to a trilogy that explored these concepts.Themes of actions, behaviors, and consequences.Themes of anger, sadness, and love.It is with great pleasure and sincere excitement that Somewhere Violet proudly presents to you:Consequence.---------------------------------------------Written over 4 years ago, this album is the culmination of an ambitious project I began with Dave in my senior year of college and, like a photograph, it captures perfectly who we were at the time. The dynamic range in songwriting and sonic landscaping is certainly the most ambitious of any record I’ve ever released. In some ways it’s overly ambitious - and the cover art serves to reflect the juxtaposition of the beauty and violence found within this record. I’m proud to have made this music alongside one of my best friends and I’m even prouder of the music we have yet to make/release.Sung to funky verses and gentle choruses “Neon Butterflies” is a song I think many will enjoy for its description of the bittersweet feelings of homecoming. “Secret to Love” is an ironic dance-song that stands out melodically for its catchy-choruses as well as instrumentally for it’s latin-metal inspired beats. “Lights Out!”, “This is War”, and “Take it Back” are quick, violent, message-laced punk songs whereas both “The Missing Reel” and “Glass and Glitter” are standouts as some of the most gentle, positive, and personal songs we’ve ever released and I couldn’t be more proud of them. If you listen closely you’ll hear themes from other albums that serve to bookend our music. “How You Like Me Now” is what I consider to be our magnum opus - with over 100 tracks it blends all the elements of our favorite artists/songs into one cohesive halloween/western opera. You’ll hear elements of Danny Elfman, Avenged Sevenfold, Chiodos, The Used, Muse, and many others sprinkled throughout.
