How Can I Keep from SingingIn November 2019, we hauled our songs, our instruments, a pile of microphones and a sense of adventure to a little cabin in the woods of Northern Massachusetts. We started a fire in the wood stove and sang until we lost our voices.Sound an Echo is a project born out of love - the shared love of sound and song and history and community. We chose songs that have stood the test of time. We pulled them apart and wove them together again. These songs carry stories, the stories of their conceptions and travels span centuries, oceans, and cultures. Who first taught you to sing? How do you recall the sweet sounds of a mother in the kitchen, a grandfather at the piano, the aunts and uncles singing into the night as you fell asleep?We are interested in bringing new life to the old and remembering how to sing together again.
