Challenge Quo 1 by Sunday Club, released 14 August 20201. DJ Sterni - Swing My Way (2 Step edit)2. Vitling - Okay3. RTG - Scandalous (UKG Edit)4. Halffish - After Midnight (2-Steps Up Mix)Four friends, one challenge: produce a fire UKG or 2-Step edit. Despite a narrow prompt, what emerged from a shared push to inspire and create together were four tracks that run the gamut from gospel-tinged organs to astral projections.DJ Sterni - Swing My Way (2 Step Edit)Part-time beat-scientist, part-time space cadet; DJ Sterni excels at intricately crafted yet sparse soundscapes. In his latest interstellar transmission, DJ Sterni beams the sounds of the dancefloor deep into the outer reaches. As much suited for the Sea of Tranquility as for the early hours, it's an atmospheric slow-burner that is sure to add some rocket fuel to the tank on a long journey in the dark.Vitling - OkayLockdown has been an emotional time. What better way to deal than to dance it out? Vitling digs deep to pull out the #cryingonthedancefloor banger you didn't know you needed. Bubbly on the come-up and sprinkled with riffs worthy of Top 40 status, “Okay” pairs a timeless song about overcoming hardship with introspective synths and a driving groove. Defiant, Vitling leaves the melancholia behind for an ecstatic speed garage finale, and comes out all the better for it. It might not be therapy, but it's at least as good as Zoom therapy.RTG - Scandalous (UKG Edit)RTG isn’t here to faff about. After a long hiatus from production, he’s back with a rock-solid, unadulterated dance cut. This edit gets straight to business from the get-go and doesn’t fuss around. A no-nonsense beat walks the walk, while letting the original shine through. Don’t fret; we are far from all-work-and-no-play. Although RTG works the dancefloor like it’s his day job, he sprinkles in a few healthy reminders that UKG is for having a good time in any locale.Halffish - After Midnight (2-Steps Up Mix)A lot goes down After Midnight. Sinister keys and a siren’s call lure you down a dark and dangerous alleyway. But it’s always darkest just before the dawn, and the lights flip on right before things get dodgy. More high-noon-on-Sunday than ungodly-hour, an uplifting chorus compels you to raise your hands and get down. Dipping back and forth between vaulted ceilings and the urban underbelly, this peak-time banger is sure to keep you on your feet ‘til the early hours. These tracks were made for fun, and they were made together so that we could inspire each other to get music made. But that said, we acknowledge that these tracks (like a lot of electronic music) are all made by white men sampling the work of black women. In recognition of that, we are making these tracks available to download with a pay-what-you-want price tag. Any money that we raise will be directly donated to the London Black Women’s Project. You can have them for free, but we really hope that you’ll leave a donation!!
