I love you, Saba.This debut CD is long overdue.Keith Jarrett once said, “Music comes fromlife, music doesn’t come from music”. Duringthe time between recording this album andreleasing it, I focused on life. Together with mywife, Dania, we achieved the most importantand beautiful thing, of bringing our threegorgeous boys, Noam, Yahel and Ohad, intothis world. They are the greatest source of love,energy and inspiration I could dream of. I wasalso honored to serve as head of the musicdepartment at the Jerusalem Academy of Musicand Dance High School in Israel.>>>The story:Music is recomposed every time it is played.This recording is, first of all, the result of mygreat friendships with my brothers Jorge Perez-Albela and Kevin Harris. Our musical connectionstarted one afternoon in 2010 at a session atJorge’s home in Boston. We started playing astandard and as soon as we finished it, I knew that,for me, these are the guys! They were swingin’like crazy, being playful and sensitive to everynote played. It was clear that we shared the samemusical values, so I thought to myself, if we are thisplayful and having so much fun at a private sessionwith no audience, imagine what it could be like toshare this magic with others? I couldn’t wait!. I thenapproached Gill Aharon from the Lilypad Jazz Clubin Cambridge, MA and shared with him my feelingsand that I was interested in a steady gig. I thankGill to this day for believing in me and accepting myidea since it is rare that a band gets an opportunitylike this. I had such a belief in this trio that I knewwe would probably start with four people in theaudience but had no doubt that we could attracta bigger audience from gig to gig. Thankfully, thisturned out to be true. We started with a handful ofpeople in the audience but after several months,we packed the place. We also featured someoutstanding soloists such as the great trumpeterAvishai Cohen, saxophonist and vocalist StanStricklend, Saxophonist Marco Pignataro andDrummer Richie Barshay, among others.This recording is a testament to this trio’s organicprocess.I am grateful for so many magical moments I haveshared with my beloved brothers, on and off stage,and look forward to many more!
