THE FLUTE FLIESIvan, Reid, and Zeno created the Flute Flies for CyTunes.org, a site with the motto “Download Music, Downsize Cancer," designed to help our friend & one of the world’s greatest music fans, Cy Rawls, with his hospital bills while he fought against cancer. The result is a collection of 12 songs called “Yes Means Maybe.” 100% of its proceeds will go to Cytunes.org in Cy's honor to continue the fight.Yes Means Maybe, released 28 August 20121. Tobacco Rent11. Will There Be Prizes?12. Singing and DrunkWhen our friend friend Cy Rawls was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, the entire North Carolina music family was in shock. Cy was the biggest music fan any of us ever knew, and he was also an amazing friend who would sometimes attend five different shows in a night: He would show up, say hey, drink a Coke and hit the highway to make the next show. When the reality of the battle that Cy was about to face set in, our music community bonded together to figure out a way we could help support Cy and contribute somehow to his fight again cancer. Out of that want to help, www.cytunes.org was born. It was a home where musicians could make available for purchase exclusive songs with 100% of the profits going to the Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University where Cy was a patient. Wanting to participate, we — Reid from Schooner, Zeno from The Sames/Pound of Miracles, and Ivan from The Rosebuds — each agreed to write a song for us to record together in honor of Cy for cytunes.org. The only rules were that the songs had to be written, performed and recorded by us three friends, and all of the proceeds from any part of the band would go to Ticsh. We called the project The Flute Flies.We donated the first three songs to CyTunes.org, and people seemed to enjoy them.
