Try My Love12. One More DanceThey sometimes return from their occupations and let us know what rock and roll is about. Which is truly refreshing in this day and age of confusion. Overwhelmed by the sheer amount of available musical information, with the internet adding up to the chaotic situation, the magazines transformed in publicity outlets, and management agencies dictating what is to become the latest thing, the risk of their forever changing the original idea is indeed very real. Their plot is self-evident. With no clear references in the musical landscape, the existence of bands such as the Meows is almost miraculous. And here comes the Meows' latest album, All You Can Eat, released in a vinyl-only edition a few months ago and hailed by diehard rock and roll fans who idolize a combo which plays in its own league, displays a tremendous sound, write top-notch songs and, clearly, takes no prisoners. The legend wants that their album was recorded with little or no preparation, in a few hours of studio time. Which makes sense to me. Here's a sublime track list featuring increased levels of hi-energy in the band's classic sound --the sort of rock and roll which does not need to resort to soul music influences, since it has plenty of soul by itself. Simple and easy, in fact...But so difficult to find. It is small wonder that All You Can Eat was voted as the best Spanish album in 2011. - Eduardo Ranedo (Ruta 66 Magazine / Radio Euskadi).
