The Unsean - Stories from the sea. From ahylo, ex nihilo (Castoriadis), to hyle, to life, the unseen is what is coming into existence from the absence. And we do know that something exists in absence, as Pierre Clastres, this intellectual giant of anthropology, once said. The Unsean refers precicely to this unseen, absent, matter. It has been born in the Mediterranean Sea, and has been inspired by the Cycladic utopia, observing the anonymous and collective architecture, history and atmosphere of this small group of islands which is spreading out at the Mediterranean archipelago, and for which Le Corbusier once said: “whatever architecture had to say, it is said here” - in Cyclades. The Unsean is shaping and producing hyle, the material, the matter, what matters: publications and atmospheres which arise from thoughts, emotions, love - the utopia of another way to collectively exist.
