An angry penguin slowly opens its mouthBorn of a desire to have a 4 day party, mid-life crisis and experimental recording session all at the same time, Zuul is the brain-child of writerand multi-instrumentalist Dan Waters who took his chums on holiday to Giant Wafer, a Welsh residential recording studio truly in the middleof nowhere. They emerged 4 days later with a 3 track EP, a world class hang-over and a viable open relationship with Wonky the studio cat.A group of jobbing musicians and band members who have been friends since the Black Death, Zuul is Dan Waters (writer / bass / drums), Rob Kelly (writer / producer / bass and synths), Phil Kelly (percussion), Bristol based session drummer Greg White, jazz musician and arranger Tom Briers (tuba, euphonium) and two members of prog-rock band Flicker, Ellis Mordecai (keyboards) and Andy Day (guitars).Saxophones and Alto Flute were overdubbed at Strongroom Studios where Rob is based with composer and session player Josie Simmons (baritone sax), the Trans-Siberian March Band’s Jenny Greig (tenor sax) and Claire Wickes (English National Opera / English Session Orchestra) on alto flute.Zuul’s first EP “There is no Dana” is now exclusively released on a usb stick attached to the collar of a charming Welsh Mouser though you can also find it on itunes, apple music, spotify, band camp and sound cloud.
