#Prameela, a socio-environmental entrepreneur, who did her M.Tech from IIT Chennai has set up a leaf plate/tableware manufacturing unit under #PMEGP, serving the twin purposes of reducing plastic pollution caused by events and providing much needed employment to local women struggling to make ends meet during covid times. The start-up is called #AbhyudayaIndustries which manufactures #AAHAAR eco-friendly leaf plates and bowls of different sizes to meet the specific requirements of event hosts thus nudging them to adopt a healthier and safer option as compared to polythene coated and Styrofoam disposable tableware. #Prameela says "We all know about the carcinogenic effects of plastic disposables on humans and harmful effects on the environment, besides being a major water pollutant and a threat to cattle and aquatic life" She adds, "The tableware does not do any harm to the trunk of the trees. The leafy tableware is a humble attempt to reduce deforestation and constantly rising heaps of garbage which amount to almost 1 billion tons per year. The use of this tableware would also prevent us from over-using our current natural and man-made resources, especially water resources".She goes on to say, "What was once very common in India has now been forgotten by us. So, let us go back to our Sampradaya of eating safe & healthy in Sal, Palash leaves/Adda aaku, moduga aaku, visthraaku, which have antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, astringent and other medicinal properties, and being bio-degradable, are safe for us and safe for our Earth." Let's consciously use Eco-Friendly products for our Healthy future, both for Humans and Environment. Let's Go Green and serve healthy food in a healthy and safe way, by serving in Eco-Friendly, Biodegradable Leaf Plates. We will be saving huge gallons of water.
