Do Not Bleach is an interactive and interdisciplinary art installation and initiative by artist Stephanie Brown based in Atlanta, GA. The t-shirt art objects within this installation are designed for people of color to advocate for their melanin with their chest and the blades of their back. By wearing the shirt, individuals may take a step toward resisting the inferiority of brown skin, no matter the shade. More than a shirt, they become a collective message against colorism and an opportunity to resist the whitewashing of skin, cultures, and history. This website is dedicated to allow individuals to collect the screen-printed Do Not Bleach shirts for themselves or a friend.
