Felipe Fonseca was born in Perú, and lives in Japan. Raised in a family deeply involved in arts and crafts, he always was fascinated and had interest in design and fashion. Although he started studying and pursuing his career as a jewelry designer/maker at the age of thirty, his passion for jewelry made him start his professional career soon after he decided to devote himself entirely to the world of jewelry.Having learned skills and techniques as a craftsman at several renowned jewelry schools in Tokyo, he founded his first brand, Vanidad, with his longtime creative partners. As his desire to represent his own views through jewelry began to grow, he started his own label, Felipe Fonseca Jewelry in 2013.His inspiration comes from architecture, nature and film. He utilizes silver, resin, leather and wood to express his ideas and identity as a Peruvian who lives and works in Tokyo. His knowledge of Japanese traditional crafts and culture also plays a large part in making his pieces unique, which have poised, modern, and nostalgic looks.Felipe Fonseca + Jewelry has been seen at upscale department stores such as Isetan, Tokyu and Keio, and his handmade pieces are constantly featured in popular TV series, entertainment shows, advertisements and CD covers.
