Hokule'a "Star of Gladness" is a contemporary Hawaiian Voyaging Canoe, sailing in 1976 from Oahu, Hawaii, to Tahiti without any navigational instruments but guided by Mau Piailug, a navigator from a small island called Satawal in Micronesia. More recently Hokule'a sailed along the highways of the Polynesia Triangle and circumnavigated the world with her sister ship Hikianalia.
