We at Soul Nyam, believe in sharing the “Soul” of cuisines that follow the diaspora of our African American ancestors. We highlight traditional dishes and cooking techniques that were created by native Africans and the merging of indigenous peoples of the Carribean. The transatlantic slave trade brought new ideas and concepts of cooking that encompass the process of BBQing, Marinating, and preserving food to ensure the quality of life in a new land. These cooking techniques have widely changed a lot of the foods we consume in our current day.
