"My mission is to add value to people and how they want to live their life in a body that will carry them to wherever they want to go, doing whatever gives them joy ... pain-free and disease-free ... forever." "I have been health challenged AND I have worked with 1,000s of clients since 1997 and have seen how the body restores function and fitness, health and vitality." "I want this for you too." I live, breathe, and sleep with an unwavering passion to inform, educate, guide, motivate, and coach people to have the healthiest and pain free experience this lifetime. Interestingly, this has not always been my passion. I have always wanted to be of service but the outlet for that previously was through my Child Care Centre. In fact, as far as health went, I lived in total disregard of it and what my body might be able to do. So ... let me back up a bit and give you a brief review and insight. You might relate to some of it/or a lot of it. I was fast approaching 40! Yikes! Wake up call 101. I had lived quite mindlessly for the first 4 decades of my life. Ate whatever I wanted - didn't cook it - ordered it. Drank and smoked whatever I wanted. Did whatever I wanted quite literally. I worked hard and devoted my whole self to my business - an expression of my passion - my Child Care Centre. I worked hard and partied harder to relieve the stress. I celebrated every time the sun went down. And lived like there was no tomorrow. I didn't have a death wish but I certainly didn't have a health consciousness either. My body was not complaining too much. I was pretty good compared to most. Isn't it great when we can find someone worse off than ourselves to make ourselves feel better? I was a bit fat - not too much. I carried the excess fairly well hidden because I am tall. I was actually in surprisingly good shape (again - compared to most) but that's because I had such a strong work ethic that I worked non-stop - even at home. Oh and I had a bit of back pain - actually severe back pain for 25 years but I ignored that and pushed on. Rolling onto my hands and knees on the floor when getting off the couch was always an option. Oh and intense period pain each month but 3 hourly Nurofen for the first 2 days fixed that. oh and skin breakouts reminiscent of puberty stood out like headlights every month. Oh and I was depressed but still functioning so no-one really noticed (except me). The anti-depressants seemed to boost me enough so that I could present to the outside world as being ok. At least I wasn't manic (happy) anymore either. Oh and I had what could be categorised these days as an eating disorder. No real biggy there as no-one knew. Oh and I was hypothyroid - low body temperature, low blood pressure, slow metabolism. Oh and my feet and ankles hurt when I got out of bed each morning. I hobbled to the toilet and lowered myself very delicately due to my back pain all the while resembling a 90 year old (a stiff one). Oh and my knuckles were so swollen I had to remove my rings with soap. Um .... that's about it.... pretty good for a 40 year old (compared to most). Normal. Normal? Yes - unfortunately it IS thought to be normal to have all these little niggles "at our age". BUT I made a decision to NOT be normal "at my age". The looming birthday motivated me to turn the ship around. I cleaned up my act. Having just completed my Masters in Education at Sydney Uni, I lept head first into research and popped up for air 3 years later with a book about all that matters: Lose Fat, Gain Health. In my inimitable style I wanted to share my knowledge with others so I gathered clients into my Personal Training Studio and began spreading the word. That led me to coaching people in all kinds of healthy and fitness situations. I remember one client was so unhealthy and unfit that I carried my phone with me constantly. His cardiologist warned me that he could 'go' any minute due the thin walls of his heart. Yikes. And the other extreme were track athletes including Melinda Gainsford Taylor who were training for the Olympics. Wow - that's finely tuned engine if ever I saw one. I certainly had to be very careful (a few sleepless nights worrying) with my advice and training of her for the biggest event of her life Sydney Olympics - competing in front of her home crowd. And so after much further study and research and many thousands of hours of 1:1 coaching, it was time to extend my coaching to those living further away. I launched the first online health coaching program in 1998: 6 weeks Lose Fat, Gain Health. 1,000s have benefitted from this initial upgrade to their health and resultant fat loss. Follow up programs were: Cellulite Attack, Health Recovery, Health Zone Snacks and Meals. All were hugely successful but now, after a few 'critical turning points' in my life, I have developed a better system for assisting and implementing health upgrades for others. You see ... it's not so much the WHAT to do that counts, it's the HOW you implement it, that counts and lasts forever. "The best hammer in the world is of no use (even be dangerous) if not used with skill." Oh - the critical turning points? I smashed my meniscus - part of the knee - at TaeKwonDo. Surgery and a whole lot of pain for 6 months taught me the value of our joints and how permanent the damage is to them. My business went "down the toob". 6 years of my life's passion gone. My father died after 3 years unable to do anything for himself. My relationship of 13 years dissolved. My 2 dogs, 2 horses, and hand reared parrot died. I nearly died: doctors gave me 4 days (to die - not live) - that story is for another time. The climb back to physical health took 18months. My mental challenges returned: severe depression after the near death experience. And then .... the PTSD hit. (If YOU are at the effect of PTSD please contact me privately and I will talk with you about this ... from my experience ... no-one knows what you are going through except someone who has lived with it) Phew .... "Life wasn't meant to be .... um ... what?" *BTW ... no "poor me" in any of those events. I have found the gifts in all of them. That's just what life throws at you sometimes. I'm sure you have experienced some of these already also. If we live long enough we will experience all of them to some degree. Sometimes we have to experience significant pain and struggle in order to benefit others. The depth of the pain in relative to the depth of the empathic ability. And I use those challenges and events in my life to benefit YOU. I know what it takes to be healthy, to maintain it, and what it takes to have a fully functional and pain free body. I have developed what is (sure, arguably) THE best and most sensible approach to health and fitness that is available. I combine the holistic nature of my research and skills with the practical experience I have had to give you the streamlined version of what I did to recover my health and vitality in a body that is totally pain free. How's my health now? At 55 I can honestly say I am in the best health I have ever been in since my 20's. AND THAT is what I want for YOU. Have a look at the Health Tools to see which one is going to suit you best. Check out my formal study creds also at About Helen If you need a hand ... please don't even think twice ...
