Angela Heileson, Rachel Couch and Ivy Merrell returned to Rabbitbrush Studios in January 2021 to record their sophomore album All The Rage. Hot FeelAll the Rage is a fire starter wrapped in pink cream. The album is a multicourse meal with pulsing dance beats, heavy guitar riffage and interweaving voices. Its first track “Shade” harkens back to the riot grrl anthems of the 90’s, with howling, harmonized vocals, lashing power chords and a frantic guitar solo. “Farewell” is a frenzied, high energy blast with aggressive lead vocals that slams into a driving, contemplative breakdown with throbbing bass, dreamy vocals and lonely guitar. Post punk pop gem “Halo” is a three minute delight that contemplates mortality while taking the listener “down a shady avenue.” “Bloom” begins as a dreamy and solemn silliloque whose picked guitar draws the listener in before unleashing a dramatic chorus with psychedelic swells and a vamping bassline. Femicide nightmare “Pretty Killer” is set to the pounding of drums and bass and screaming, wounded guitar, crescendoing like a knife fight. The record ends with “Hot Feel,” a catchy track featuring bouncy bass and drums, whose second half is a meandering dialogue between guitar and saxophone that intensifies like an argument before the whole track screeches to a halt. Jenn recorded it herself on location in various places significant to her including her home studio. Natural Impressions is a collection Jenn has been recording/working on for several years, about growing up in the woods, doing better, looking to the cosmos, looking for peace.On “Magic, Plants & Love,” Jenn wanted to capture the sound and feeling of walking through the grass with the birds chirping above on Nantucket, so she did exactly that and recorded the vocals in the bathroom of the cottage where she was staying in 'Sconset. A water-filled goblet warbles on "Starry-Eyed," crickets at Kathryn Albertson Park in Boise chirp on the autobiographical sketch “Old Woods.” Some songs are snippets, mood pieces, an attempt to capture something of the essence of time and space.After losing her father to Alzheimer’s this year — he was always a champion of her music — she realized life is too short not to finally finish and share her first album. As Dr. Wayne Dyer said, “don’t die with your music still in you.” The cover of Natural Impressions is a treasured photo of Jenn’s mother, who passed in 1999.
