Acceptable use policy

Effective 1 September 2026

This page is part of the terms of service. It lists what you may not do with the service or the data, in enough detail that if we ever have to point at a line, the line is here. Almost everyone will never need it.

1. Fair use

Use the service the way it is designed to be used. One search is one page of results; paging through results costs a search per page. Fetching pages you do not read, running automated loops through the interface, or pulling results faster than a person could read them is not fair use and will be throttled and then stopped. If you need volume, the API exists for it and meters it honestly.

Allowances belong to one account. Creating additional accounts, trials or seats to multiply an allowance, evade a limit or continue after a suspension is prohibited, and we merge or close the accounts involved.

2. No scraping and no bypassing limits

You may not scrape, crawl, harvest or bulk-download the website, the application or the database by any automated means other than the API under your own key. You may not circumvent, disable or probe rate limits, allowances, access controls, the consent notice or any other protection, and you may not reverse-engineer the application, the extension or the way the database is compiled.

3. No attacks, and how to report a weakness

You may not test, probe, scan or attack our systems, attempt to gain access to another account, interfere with the service for other customers, upload malware, or impersonate us or another user. Submitting false abuse reports, or using our support channel to harass the people who answer it, counts as misuse.

We run no bug bounty programme and pay no rewards. If you find a security weakness, email hi@myleadfox.com and nowhere else, do not test it further, and do not disclose it publicly. We will thank you and fix it, and we will not pursue anyone who reports in good faith and stops there.

4. Contacting the people whose details you find

The contact routes in the database are business contact routes that businesses published to be contacted. You may use them for lawful business communication and nothing else. You may not send spam, phishing, robocalls or bulk SMS, and you must identify yourself honestly, include a working opt-out in every message, and honour every opt-out and suppression request immediately, in every country you contact and under that country's law.

You may not use the service or the data to stalk, harass, threaten, dox, discriminate against or defraud anyone, or to build a profile of an individual.

5. No resale and no competing product

You may not sell, publish, sublicense, syndicate or redistribute the data, exports, API responses or enrichment results, or use them to build, train or benchmark a competing database, lead list or enrichment product. Sharing with your own staff and contractors for your own business is allowed. The data use policy states the full rules for outputs.

6. No regulated decisions and no sensitive data

You may not use the data to decide anyone's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing, lending, tenancy, education, healthcare or a government benefit, or for any purpose a consumer-reporting law regulates. You may not use the service to collect, upload or target payment card numbers, government identifiers, health, biometric or genetic data, data about children, precise location, or data revealing race, religion, politics, union membership or sexuality.

7. Payments

You may not pay with a stolen, unauthorised or disputed payment method, create accounts to avoid paying, or dispute a charge with your bank without first contacting us as the refund policy requires.

8. Features that use artificial intelligence

Where the service uses artificial intelligence to interpret a search or summarise results, you may not use it to profile individuals, to target people by a protected characteristic, or to generate deceptive or manipulative messages. Its output is a starting point for your own judgement, not a fact you may rely on without checking.

9. What happens when a rule is broken

We look first at the severity of what happened and at the account's history. For a first, minor breach we send a warning that names the rule and asks you to stop. For a repeated or more serious breach we suspend the account for a stated period, and while it is suspended nothing on it runs. For a serious breach we close the account.

Alongside any of these we may throttle or revoke API keys, block exports, stop running jobs, withdraw unused allowances and credits, and end the licence to data obtained through the breach. Fees already paid are not refunded when an account is suspended or closed under this policy.

Where a breach harms a person, breaks the law or puts other customers at risk, we may report it to the authorities and take legal action. We do not name customers publicly as a punishment.

If you think we have got it wrong, reply to the notice. A person reads it, looks again, and answers.

10. Contact

Questions about this policy, and reports of misuse by another customer, can be sent to hi@myleadfox.com and a person will answer.
